What’s included in our impact door installation service

Impact door installation is more involved than window installation — frames, hinges, locks, and weather sealing all need to be installed to manufacturer specs to maintain the door’s hurricane rating. Our standard service covers all of it.

  • Removal and disposal of the existing door
  • Frame inspection and replacement if needed
  • New wood bucking for solid mounting
  • Impact-rated door installation per manufacturer specs
  • Hardware install — hinges, locks, weatherstripping, threshold
  • Stucco and drywall repairs around the new frame
What’s not included: Paint touch-ups on repaired surfaces, and we don’t replace door knobs/handles if you want a higher-end finish (we’ll install whichever hardware comes with the door, or hardware you provide).

Door types we install

Different door styles require different installation techniques. Here’s what we handle most often.

1

Impact sliding glass doors

2-panel, 3-panel, and 4-panel configurations. PGT and ES sliding glass doors are the most popular for Florida lanais and patios. We handle wide-opening (8’+) and floor-to-ceiling configurations regularly.

2

Impact French doors

Single or double French doors with impact glass. Great for patio access, master bedroom openings, and dramatic interior-to-exterior transitions. Available with internal grids in multiple patterns.

3

Impact front entry doors

Single and double entry doors in fiberglass, steel, and impact glass configurations. Increase curb appeal and harden your front entrance against both storms and break-ins.

4

Impact cabana doors

Pool-area cabana doors with impact glass — corrosion-resistant frames designed for chlorine and humidity exposure. We handle Miami-Dade NOA approved cabana door configurations for poolside enclosures.

Our process, step by step

1

Free in-home consultation

We measure the door opening, walk through door style and glass options, and explain how the new door affects your insurance, security, and energy efficiency. Most consults take 30–45 minutes.

2

Quote and product selection

Detailed quote within 48 hours, including hardware and glass options. We help you pick frame color, glass tint, grid patterns, and hardware finish.

3

Permits and scheduling

We pull the permit and coordinate with your HOA. Doors typically arrive 4–10 weeks after order depending on customization. We schedule installation around your calendar.

4

Installation

Most single-door installs complete in one day; sliding glass doors and multi-panel configurations may take 1–2 days. Floors and furniture are protected throughout. We handle drywall and stucco repairs as part of the install.

5

Final inspection and wind mitigation paperwork

We coordinate the city inspection and provide the OIR-1802 form for your insurance company. Follow-up at 30 days to confirm everything is operating smoothly.

“Replaced my front door with Caner and could not have made a better decision. From the start, working with Dominic to help us decide what worked best for our area to the install crew, they were all phenomenal to deal with. The workmanship and quality of work were outstanding.”

Frequently asked questions

How long does impact door installation take?
Most single entry-door installs complete in one day. Sliding glass doors and multi-panel French door installs typically take 1–2 days. Whole-home projects with multiple doors run 2–3 days.
Are impact doors really hurricane-proof?
Properly installed impact doors meet or exceed Florida Building Code requirements for windborne debris regions, including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Every door we install is tested to withstand 9-pound 2×4 impacts at high speed plus pressure cycles equivalent to 200+ mph winds.
Do impact doors qualify for insurance discounts?
Yes — most Florida insurers offer wind mitigation credits when ALL exterior openings (windows and doors) are impact-rated. Partial protection sometimes qualifies for partial credits. We provide the OIR-1802 form for your insurance company.
How much does impact door installation cost?
A single impact entry door typically runs $2,500–$6,000 installed depending on size, glass options, and hardware. Sliding glass doors range $5,000–$15,000+ for multi-panel configurations. See our detailed cost guide or request a free estimate.
Can you install impact doors in an HOA-restricted community?
Yes. We handle HOA approvals as part of every project. Most HOAs require advance approval of door style, color, and glass pattern — we submit the paperwork and follow up until it’s approved.
