Why Wellington homes need impact windows

Wellington sits roughly 15 miles inland in western Palm Beach County, but the Florida Building Code still classifies it as a hurricane-wind zone. Even inland homes need impact-rated openings — both for safety and to satisfy modern insurance underwriters.

Hurricane protection

Laminated impact glass and reinforced frames rated to 200 mph winds. Stops flying debris cold and meets Palm Beach County code.

Lower energy bills

Low-E glass blocks heat and UV. Wellington homeowners typically see cooling-cost reductions of 25–40% after install.

Insurance discounts

Most Florida insurers offer mitigation credits for impact-rated openings. We provide the OIR-1802 documentation your underwriter needs.

Hurricane protection for Palm Beach County homes

Wellington shares the same hurricane exposure as the rest of South Florida — Hurricane Irma (2017), Ian (2022), and Idalia (2023) all caused damage across Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties. Every impact window and door we install has been tested under the strict Miami-Dade NOA protocol, which is the most demanding impact standard in the country. If it passes Miami-Dade, it passes Wellington.

Glass is responsible for roughly 90% of the energy loss through a home’s openings. Replacing original aluminum or single-pane windows with modern Low-E impact glass eliminates that loss, blocks short and long-wavelength UV, and keeps interior surfaces from sun-bleaching. The same construction that stops a 2×4 in a wind-tunnel test also makes a measurable difference in your July electric bill.

Our installation process in Wellington

A typical whole-home Wellington install runs 2–4 days, depending on window count and home access. We handle everything inside the install window — old window removal, new wood bucking for solid mounting, impact-window installation, drywall touch-ups around the interior frames, and stucco repairs around the exterior frames. Painting is the only thing we leave to you, and we’ll match the touch-up areas to a clean edge.

“Great company. From day 1 to finish. Amazing communication and service. At a very good price. Danny did an outstanding job with install of my impact windows and cleanup. Would give 6 stars if I could.”

Frequently asked questions

Do I need impact windows in Wellington if I’m inland?
Yes. The Florida Building Code requires impact-rated openings throughout the High Velocity Hurricane Zone and the broader South Florida wind-zone designations. Wellington’s inland location does not exempt it — and insurance underwriters increasingly require impact-rated windows for new policies regardless of distance from the coast.
How much do impact windows cost in Wellington?
Pricing varies based on home size, window style, and glass options. A typical Wellington single-family home runs $15,000–$45,000 for a full impact-window replacement. See our detailed cost guide or request a free in-home estimate.
Will my homeowners insurance go down after I install impact windows?
Most Florida insurers offer mitigation credits ranging from 10–45% off your wind premium for impact-rated openings. After installation we provide the OIR-1802 wind mitigation form your insurance company needs to apply the discount.
How long does installation take?
A typical Wellington whole-home install takes 2–4 days. The process includes window removal, wood bucking, installation, drywall touch-ups, and stucco repairs. We schedule installs same-week when product is in stock.
What’s the difference between impact windows and hurricane shutters?
Impact windows are always installed and always protecting — no setup required when a storm approaches. Shutters require deployment time and offer no day-to-day energy or insurance benefits. Read our full comparison.
Do you offer financing for Wellington homeowners?
Yes. We partner with Wells Fargo’s Home Projects Credit Card for low monthly payments and fast approval. See financing options.
